"SEE THE ROAD" SERIES

SOME RENDERINGS OF BOARDS I WOULD LIKE TO BUILD

The TaKen Story:

This all started several years ago when my friend and coworker, Joel L. decided he wanted to build a longboard deck.  Sounded like a fun project and I decided I would go in on some wood with him.  So away we went, building a couple decks out of different woods.  As it turns out, some of the wood we obtained was far too stiff and heavy to be a longboard deck.  So I decided to lighten it up.  I pulled out the drill and various size drill bits and started making chips.  The result was “Holes” which you will see in the gallery.  I thought it turned out pretty cool, and I, nor anyone I showed it to, had seen anything like it.  So, I was inspired to see how far I could take it and started working on more complex designs.  The result is what I call the “See the Road Series” and you will find images of some of the designs in the gallery.

About Me:

Born and raised in Nebraska, my family moved to Spokane, Washington just after my 8th grade graduation.  After finishing High School at Gonzaga Prep, I attended Montana State University in Bozeman, MT where I received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.  I am now back living in Spokane, where I enjoy playing music and building, designing, and creating.  As an engineer, and well, I guess an artist, I like to create things that satisfy both form and function.  I believe TaKen Longboards represents this philosophy as they are as beautiful to ride as they are hanging on the wall.

Getting One:

Yes.  They are for Sale! Currently the only way to get a deck or a complete setup is to contact me.  So take a look at the gallery, and then get ahold of me.  You can do this by clicking the “Contact” tab at the top of the page and emailing me.  I would be happy to answer any questions you may have.  Note: Each board has a serial number and all of my newer boards have at least one “hole” with which you can lock it up using a bike cable and lock.  And yes… this is a result of me having one “taken” and yes… the reason for the name — TaKen Longboards.  Cheers!
